Education & Lifelong Horsemanship
At Sunny Sugarcreek Stables, we believe education is an essential part of responsible horse ownership and lifelong horsemanship. We strive to create an environment where horses and their people can continue to learn, grow, and build confidence together.
We encourage our boarders to develop a deeper understanding of their individual horse—learning to recognize normal behavior, routines, nutrition, hoof health, and overall well-being. When owners understand what is normal for their horse, they become more confident in their care and better able to recognize subtle changes before they become larger concerns.
Education at Sunny Sugarcreek Stables extends beyond riding lessons. Some of the most valuable horsemanship comes from simply spending time with your horse—observing, grooming, caring for them, and learning to understand their natural behavior and individual needs. Our team is always happy to share knowledge, answer questions, and help owners become more confident in the many aspects of horse care.
We also believe there is tremendous value in learning from experienced equine professionals. We welcome opportunities to bring knowledgeable professionals and clinicians to the barn for educational clinics, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences.
Riding Lessons
We offer beginner to intermediate English and Western riding lessons with Angela, our Barn Manager. Lessons are designed to build confidence, develop practical horsemanship skills, and strengthen the connection between horse and rider.
A one-hour lesson may include grooming, hoof picking, tacking up, riding, cool-down, untacking, and post-ride grooming. Trail-riding lessons may also be available based on the rider’s experience and ability.
Our Goal
Our goal is simple: to help horses and their people become healthier, more confident, and more knowledgeable through thoughtful, practical education and a genuine understanding of the horse.
